About The Role

Reporting to the CFO, this position will be a key driver and enabler in the development of people, processes, and technology, ensuring data is readily available for management decision making, legal compliance, management, and reporting. 

The Sr Controller will oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in a fast-growth start-up environment, have built organizations to scale for rapid growth, and have experience in building the financial department. 

This candidate is not only a strategic thinker who can develop a plan to build a world-class accounting organization but also has the attention to detail and leadership ability to drive change and execute the plan.

How You’ll Thrive

Within Your First 30 Days You Will:

  • Work with our Head of People to standardize our headcount process
  • Integrate current spreadsheets and financial models onto new FP&A software
  • Integrate accounting software with FP&A software

Within Your First 90 Days You Will:

  • Automate day-to-day FP&A tasks by transitioning our organization to a new ERP-style software.
  • Deliver monthly forecasts, budget vs actuals, financial reports and real-time dashboards 
  • Automate/streamline monthly close procedures through onboarding of new financial software 

Looking back on your first 12 months at Woebot Health, you will have…

  • Worked with the CFO to successfully establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis
  • Developed, implemented and maintained financial controls and guidelines
  • Achieved budgeting goals with proper scheduling analysis and corrective action 
  • Developed and enforced internal controls maximizing  protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
  • Maximized payroll efficiency through innovative process development
  • Helped develop and support short and long-term operational strategies
  • Built an accounting team with dynamic leadership creating an environment of trust and productivity

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements as well as the requirements of private contributions, loans, and government contracts
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Execute ad hoc projects as needed and prioritized by the CFO

Role Specific Competencies 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
  • Strong excel skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and can work through complex accounting problems 
  • Experience with ERP system implementations
  • Self-starter
  • Experience successfully managing a team 

Preferred 

  • CPA and/or MBA
  • 10+ years of accounting experience (preferably with experience in private companies, with management experience)
  • Experience in healthcare fields
