Professional Services Engineer at Nginx

NGINX Software, Inc. is looking for a Professional Services Engineer to join our Professional Services team in our San Francisco headquarters. You will be responsible for providing clients with services related to the installation, configuration, and tuning of NGINX products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement the NGINX Plus commercial software
  • Analyze the customer’s business problems and suggest the best use of NGINX Plus
  • Help customers implement NGINX Plus in their Linux and FreeBSD environments, including installation, configuration, tuning, load testing, and auditing 
  • Provide best practices for implementing NGINX Plus
  • Document implemented solutions 

Qualifications: 

  • BS/BA degree in a relevant field (CS, EE, MIS) or equivalent experience
  • 3-pus years of Unix or Linux systems engineering and systems administration  
  • Proven experience in a technical customer-facing role, preferably in a post-sales capacity
  • Deep understanding of TCP and HTTP
  • Good knowledge of modern Linux or Unix internals
  • Good knowledge of the NGINX open source software or NGINX Plus
  • C code reading skills
  • Fluency in at least one interpreted programming language, such as Python, PHP, JavaScript, or Perl 
  • Knowledge of traffic management and load-balancing technologies
  • Skills in networking technologies, and Internet security products and services
  • Excellent communication, business writing, and presentation skills in English
  • You enjoy working independently and are driven to produce results with a minimum amount of supervision
  • You enjoy traveling 10-30% of the time
