Role and Responsibilities:
New product development
Design and development of high-power power converters for grid parallel and stand-alone applications
Collaborate with domestic and international teams to successfully develop power converter systems
Start to finish ownership of total system electrical design - starting from concept phase to release to manufacturing and field support.
Work with in-house power electronics designs as well as work with third party power converter manufacturers to develop custom solutions.
Vendor selection, specification development, design validation, and acceptance testing
Design new adaptations or modifications to existing products to increase reliability, improve performance, and reduce costs.
Troubleshoot, define, and initiate corrective actions for field failures as well as production issues.
Required Skills and Experience:
BSEE in Electrical Engineering
5-7 or more years’ experience in power converter (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC) development.
Awareness of grid interconnection rules like IEEE1547 and CA rule 21 and UL standards relevant to the design of power converters
Strong knowledge or working experience in all aspects of battery systems, including sizing, protection, safety on Li-ion technology.
Proficiency with EE tools such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers in troubleshooting high power, high voltage equipment in a laboratory environment as well as in field
Knowledge on quality tools like FMEA, RCA and fault tree analysis.
Ability to handle design responsibility for multiple projects
Preferred Skills :
MSEE or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in experience
Experience in solar inverter development or inverters for Microgrid applications
Experience in UPS industry or power converters for datacenter applications.
Experience in developing and executing design verification test plans for complex high power systems.
