RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support and leadership in various aspects of business development with specific focus on:
- Helping drive strategic partnering for both in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities
- Search & evaluation of new, strategic external opportunities including management of
- cross functional scientific, clinical, and market / financial analyses
- Supporting and managing -licensing opportunities including deal valuation, authoring Term Sheets and contract negotiations
- Working closely with the R&D group in defining strategic and complimentary assets to be combined with the internal pipeline
- Maintaining an integrated view of the competitive landscape for key tumors and mechanisms
- Providing input into development plans for Surface programs with a focus on competitive threats / opportunities and commercial considerations
- Concurrently manage multiple projects requiring prioritization in-line with group and corporate goals
- Maintaining a comprehensive database of all company BD interactions
- Representing Surface Oncology at external meetings, conferences, and seminars
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree with minimal 7-10 years’ experience in biotech/pharma business development. MBA, MS, or PhD preferred
- Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
- Excellent analytical skills, including familiarity with financial modeling
- Outstanding communication skills (interpersonal, verbal and written) including an ability to communicate complex issues simply
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Scientific background and/or experience and knowledge of the IO space highly desirable
