Global Director of Marketing Planning and Operations at Uber
San Francisco, CA, US

We’re changing the way people think about transportation. Not that long ago we were just an app to request premium black cars in a few metropolitan areas. Now we’re a part of the logistical fabric of more than 600 cities around the world. Whether it’s a ride, a sandwich, or a package, we use technology to give people what they want, when they want it.

For the people who drive with Uber, our app represents a flexible new way to earn money. For cities, we help strengthen local economies, improve access to transportation, and make streets safer.

And that’s just what we’re doing today. We’re thinking about the future, too. With teams working on autonomous trucking and self-driving cars, we’re in for the long haul. We’re reimagining how people and things move from one place to the next.

As the Global Director of Marketing Planning and Operations, the nature of your work is focused on facilitating strategic alignment and creating integration tools and processes that best support a go-to-market calendar inclusive of 365 marketing communications, campaigns as well as read and react initiatives. You will lead a team of operations managers that support various marketing functions to create efficiencies within this process and to enable best in class marketing work. You will also serve as the Chief of Staff to the Global Head of Marketing for Uber Eats, working with teams at HQ and across the world, to provide hands-on leadership in designing, prioritizing, and implementing planning and process excellence for marketing - fostering a cohesive and creative work environment.

As a critical member of Uber Eats Marketing LT, you will lead planning and projects with strategic thinking, integrated process excellence, and an operational mindset. For this role you should have excellent critical thinking skills, excellent time-management and organizational habits, and the ability to clearly communicate and present information to seek buy-in.

What You’ll Do

  • Vision: Work closely with Global Head of Marketing, Uber Eats to develop and deploy marketing strategies and a go-to-market process (and calendar) enabling best in class work (strategic, creative, quality, relevant, timely, efficient and impactful).
  • Communication: Help to communicate priorities and act as a thought-partner, sounding board and consultant to leadership.
  • Program/Project Management: Be a hustling, multi-tasker. You’ll be THE go to person for marketing functional leaders as well as the Heads of Marketing in regions. You will also closely manage the marketing budgets and timelines across the integrated team - partnering with marketing research and analytics to define relevant metrics to measure ROI.
  • Process improvement: Identify operational and structural weaknesses and help improve existing or develop new systems, processes and tools that positively impact productivity, profitability, accountability and service.
  • Scale: Build, maintain, and communicate a global go-to-market process (marketing planning, development, deployment and execution against a consumer centric calendar) globally.
  • Build Relationships: Interface with other functional areas (Business Ops, Product, Business Development, Sales, Legal, Finance etc.) to ensure we are bringing all available tools to bear on our toughest problems.
  • Lead by example: Be incredibly truth-seeking, set a high bar for the team to think boldly and creatively, communicate frequently and with high quality; then funnel that energy into concrete processes and execution plans.

What You’ll Need

  • 10+ years experience as a marketing leader driving exceptional results.
  • Expertise within complex, global consumer marketing organizations.
  • Brand Marketing operations knowledge, from brand design to retail and event production.
  • Demonstrated financial/budgeting accountability.
  • A strategic leader with deep understanding of organizational effectiveness and a champion of efficiency.
  • Experience recruiting, managing and developing best-in-class talent and building high-performing, collaborative teams in a high growth environment.
  • An energy giver with a positive outlook and the ability to influence the direct team, peers, and senior leaders across all company functions.
  • A natural team player, with a strong track record of cross-functional leadership and partnership.
  • A passion for creating structure and overcoming organizational inertia.
  • Very strong analytical skills with the ability to promptly establish priorities and communicate expectations.
  • Experience working closely with and managing external agencies and vendors.
  • High emotional intelligence and empathy.

About the Team

Uber Eats is the food delivery brand within Uber and launched as its own app in December of 2015. Just over two years later, we’ve partnered with over 100,000 restaurants in over 200 cities to deliver food around the world. Uber has become part of the logistical fabric of the world - whether it’s a ride, a sandwich, or a package, we use technology to connect people with what they want, when and where they want it.
