The Market and Consumer Research team shapes the marketing and business direction of Uber by providing data-driven answers to the company’s most important questions.  Composed of researchers, data scientists, and engineers, our team makes an impact across Uber by uncovering rich, deep insights that inform the marketing and creative process using brand, position, message, and segmentation research tools. Our team is customer obsessed, action-oriented and sparks creativity. We produce the highest-quality insights while pioneering innovative research techniques.


Collecting data and interpreting trends and patterns from that data, is core to how we make decisions at Uber. It's important that we not limit data analysis to owned metrics. We look to third parties to understand how the world is talking about our company across online media (news, blogs, forums, and social media) so that we can improve campaigns, products, marketing and business operations.


As a Media Intelligence Insights Analyst it is your responsibility to elevate the consumer’s voice to HQ and regional teams around the world to position our business for success across marketing, product, partnerships and overall operations. You’ll be directly responsible for integrating media analytics (TV, radio and social data) with primary research (qualitative and quantitative) to make actionable insights representing consumers voices. In addition to championing media analytics at HQ, you will oversee the adoption of media intelligence for our internal stakeholders around the world.




  • Work cross functionally with teams at HQ and global mega regional leads, to develop consumer insights to help pre- and post rollout of campaigns, products and events.
  • Report on media analytics to the Insights team on a regular basis to surface changes in conversation around our brand.
  • Build regional reporting templates to be distributed locally to ensure monitored metrics are consistent globally. Collaborate with teams at HQ and around the world to facilitate knowledge sharing and to shape the consistency of our reporting practices.
  • Fully master and become a power user of media analytics tools (e.g. Brandwatch, IQ Media)
  • Understand the current reporting process and work out ways to optimize and enhance regular campaign report deliverables
  • Provide priority attention to the Safety team and their weekly media analysis needs (Safety is a global team goal in 2018 and 2019).
  • Develop visualizations in Google Spreadsheets and Google Slides to illustrate media data.
  • Analyze and interpret information from multiple data sources (media and primary research).
  • Act as a storyteller, translating complex analytical work into easy to understand analysis and recommendations.
  • Partner across teams at Uber to think outside the box on how media intelligence can help fuel business impact.



  • 5+ years of analytics and media strategy experience
  • Deep understanding of advertising and marketing
  • Experience in the analysis of large data sets to find useful relationships
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills for measuring/tracking success and KPIs.
  • Be the cutting edge expert on social and media (TV/Radio) monitoring
  • Evaluate and provide a POV on new and existing tools
  • Exceptional data interpretation skills, with strong attention to detail, writing, and visual representation.
  • A proven ability to produce deliverables and field inbound requests in a timely manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Brandwatch, and/or similar listening tools. Sysomos, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Audience Insights, etc.
  • Experience with IQ Media, TV Eyes
  • Familiarity with market research (qualitative and/or quantitative research)
