About the Role

 

 

Uber's Storage Platform team is seeking full stack engineers to develop the self-service storage portal. The portal will serve as a one-stop shop for Uber's thousands of developers to provision, manage, monitor, and debug their storage deployments across the full range of our underlying storage systems (Cassandra, MySQL, Redis, ElasticSearch as well as Uber's Schemaless and DOSA systems).

 

The goals of the project are to:

 

  • dramatically improve and automate processes that are currently confusing, inconsistent, and/or manual;
  • seamlessly integrate with Uber's infrastructure and developer tools;
  • delight Uber's engineers with a comprehensive and easy-to-use solution.

 

This is a unique opportunity to join a project from an early stage and have a direct and highly visible impact on the productivity of Uber engineering as a whole. It also affords the opportunity to work on various parts of the stack, including web UI, command-line tools, stateless backend services, and automation and workflows.

What You’ll Do
  • In this role, you will:

     

    • Implement storage portal functionality end-to-end across the stack (web UI and backend server, workflow-based automation, command-line tools, integrations with internal APIs and services).
    • Work with product managers and with engineers from within and outside the Storage organization to define feature requirements and architecture and drive collaboration.
    • Build tools and features that dramatically enhance developer productivity will also improving reliability and cost efficiency.

    You may also have the opportunity to lead the UI part of the development if you are interested and it's a good fit.

 

What You’ll Need
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Full-stack development experience including web front-end and server-side development
  • Experience developing infrastructure and/or developer tooling is a plus
  • Experience using NoSQL database systems is a plus (e.g., Cassandra, HBase, BigTable)
  • Experience with React, Redux, and/or Fusion.js is a plus
